 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM ?

AUTO SPIES WORLD EXCLUSIVE: First look at the next Pontiac Firebird Trans AM

AutoSpies.com claims a world exclusive of news that a new Firebird and Trans-Am will be built off the 2009 Camaro chassis. I think they may be stretching the situation... and a terrible "photochop" said to illustrate the new car doesn't support their point. The photochop is clearly taken off a Camaro picture supplied by GM press (if I was near my library I'd reprint that image). It's definitely not a real car... nor could it be (the side windows are impossible, for one). And, if a new Firebird were in the works... why would GM model it after the 70-81 model? Or, why not? That's my point - you don't know until it's announced or until we see spy pics of running development mules. Any such event is years off... we haven't even seen anything yet on the Camaro.

Remember, if it happens, the Camaro and Firebird will be *very* large cars - lengths in the 190+ range and weight at 4000 pounds. These are not sporting cars in any sense of the word... they are overweight coupes.

Calling them musclecars is like suggesting Steven Seagal is in good shape. He was 15-20 years ago, and he had some passable moves then, but now he's an aging blob who can't get out of his own way.

A 4000 pound musclecar? You have got to be kidding!

 Microsoft Office 2007 Blog

There are a *lot* of blogs being published from inside Microsoft - and Microsoft certainly has more going on in this field than anybody by far.

Within Microsoft, the Office team has the most and best blogs. Jensen Harris of the Microsoft Office team has one of the best (along with Chris Pratley of OneNote), and he posts regularly. It's little secret that a new beta of Office 2007 is coming sometime soon. probably this month. and if you aren't signed up for it you should do so now. Office 2007 (as I've discussed on my own blog before) has been updated in several really great ways. including a major interface change (100% different) for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

If you a power user of these programs (as I am) you'll want to take a look at their new function and appearance. I've been running them myself for several months now and have already replaced my Office 2003 installs with the 2007 beta. It's that good, I wouldn't go back. Jensen remind us in his morning post to register for the 2007 Office beta here: http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview - click the button labeled "Register Now".
