There's an interesting article in the new AutoWeek on Freeman Thomas, Ford's designer of the recent Interceptor concept.
Just as interesting is the fiberglass model he is leaning on in the picture.
Note the distance between the front wheelarch and the door - this is a rear wheel drive 4-door car. And it's not a showcar or concept - details like the angle and height of the windshield speak to production intent.
But don't jump to conclusions that this is some sort of indication of a coming 4-dr rear wheel drive car from Ford. Styling exercises like this take place all the time... and there may well be dozens of models actually built before one is chosen.
And it's nice to see the side windows are large and that the greenhouse is airey. Tiny side windows, a tall roof, and a low seating position - such as the 350Z and 300C and the Interceptor concept, make for a very poor driving experience inside the car. It's tough to see out, it's hard to know where the corners are, the driver doens't have as much of a sense of control if they feel they are sitting deep down inside an enormous shell. It's also a safety issue and a poor passenger experience issue.
