Alan Mullaly: total compensation for 4 months on the job in 2006: $28.2 million dollars.
Performance of Ford Motor Company in 2006: $12.7 Billion dollar loss. Current Ford marketing share: 9.8% (recovery plan specified 10% by now). Current loans: over $20 Billion dollars, backed up the corporate headquarters and factories as collateral. Unprecendented.

And in return Mullaly foolishly insulted the President of the United Stateswith an ill-considered and clumsy joke at the auto show last week. This is a President who has supported the (formerly) Big Three, despite repeated management goofs on their part and a serious impact to the national economy. Of course, "goofs" is not word enough to describe their mismanagement - which has has resulted in a loss of tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars. Mullaly isn't responsible for that loss - but all eyes are upon him as he attempts to repair Ford. And he can't afford another stupid speaking mistake that even an entry level manager wouldn't have made.
