Readers are important - what they say goes.
So when readers provided feedback that the Mazda material on this site should be in a section of it's own, I listened. All of the Mazda topics are now in their own section, including the blogs.
I suspected it already, and readers confirmed that Mazda enthusiasts are not interested in Ford, and Ford enthusiasts are not interested in Mazda. One recent indication of the strength of Mazda readers here is the fact that my MazdaSpeed3 section has been accessed over 800 times per month for each of the last three months.
That said, Mazda is controlled by Ford... and slowly but surely all platforms are becoming common between the two companies. Ford has even assigned Mazda development responsibility for the 2 liter and 2.3 liter 4 cylinder engines, as well as responsibility for special engine projects such as the "maturing" of the 3 liter V-6 (NVH and emissions). Mazda has eliminated it's own line of V-6 engines, and has adopted Ford's 3 and 3.5 liter V-6 engines. Mazda has taken the worldwide small car "C1" platform (European Focus, Volvo) for it's own Mazda3. And Ford has taken Mazda's 6 platform for use as the Fusion. So there will be overlap between the sections.
To kickoff the Mazda section, I've created 4 Mazda-specific blogs (each with it's own RSS feed):
- Mazda (superset of all Mazda postings)
- Mazda Concepts
- MazdaSpeed
- Miata
Since I've been blogging about Mazda right from the start, there are already about 100 posts present.
DrivingEnthusiast.net is a huge site - with well over 2200 blog postings, >8000 pages, and >10,000 images. It will take a few weeks to dig the Mazda items out and reassign them to the Mazda section, but the work is underway.
