 Major updates to EvoXenthusiast.com

In anticipation of the North American debut of the Lancer Evolution X at the Los Angeles show in November, and again at the Detroit show in January, I've added hundreds of new images to my site of the entire history of the car, from the Evolution I to the Evolution X.

This site will always be a work in progress, as I accumulate additional images - especially of the original cars and as the new Evo X rolls out in the next several months. My focus will be on the Evo X, but as I come across more material from the original cars I'll be adding that too. I also have a number of press releases and information on Evo motorsports that I'll be adding as time allows. I'm adding the specs of each car as I come across official information.

Where available, I'm adding high-resolution images as well. These images may well go over 4000 pixels, so be prepared with your highest speed connection. I'm breaking the paradigm of the usual enthusiast websites here so that I can provide enthusiasts with reference material. The images make great screen savers and wallpaper too!

And, if I make the decision to track one of these in 2008 (and that's a big IF - there are two other cars competing for that role and one of them isn't even available until late in the summer of 2008), that'll generate hundred of images, as well as a series of build-up articles. The decision depends on a couple of issues, including the poor local dealer (only 1 in the entire area, and it's the size of a gas station), the anticipated durability of the 6-speed automated manual (since the 5-speed conventional manual doesn't have the gear ratios I need for my track, where I'll need to get to approx. 140 on the main straight), and any early information I manage to get from buyers in Japan.

I've also got very nearly every dealer brochure in Japanese and English from the Evo 1 thru the Evo X in my library. I won't be scanning all of those in... but I will add some highlights in the future. And I've got some special materials such as a book distributed to Evo owners in Japan that includes details of the entire history from I to IX. If you have a chance to get one of those, do so because it's the definitive reference (and it demonstrates how important this car is to Mitsubishi). You'll also want a collection of Best Motorings (the original Japanese versions) so that you can see track tests of various factory and modified Evos over the years. I have a number of those as well, and in the future I'll be listing which videos cover which Evos.  I'm looking forward to their first tests of the new Evo X, although it will certainly compete with the new GT-R for their time.

The images below are a tiny sampling of the roughly 500 images available on my site EvoXenthusiast.com. Enjoy!
