Winding Road has been working on a 1989 SHO Taurus in a series of articles. The purpose is to get the car into shape, then “flip” it – sell it at a profit. Part 3 takes the car out on the road: http://www.windingroad.com/articles/blogs/flip-this-car-1989-ford-taurus-shopart-3/
We really like this series of articles… although we’re looking forward to more technical information in future parts. Why? We owned a Red ’89 just like this one, put 80k on it, and always wondered if we should have kept it (instead, it was traded in on a ’94 Cobra for track duty). And we’ve looked at a duplicate of this ’89 (minus the rust) for restoration… only to have it sold before we made an offer. Now we’re keeping an eye open for a Green Gen 2, manual transmission, with tan or gray interior.
Since we owned the original car, we’ve been collecting SHO information for the sake of posterity: http://www.drivingenthusiast.net/sec-ford/special-report-sho/index.html. Join us on our site for more background information.
