Dry, hot, sunny – and most of all dry. After weeks of wind and rain that led to 70 Texas counties being declared disaster areas, to hundreds of homes being washed away, and to several fatalities, Texas needs a dry climate and car enthusiasts need a car show.
The monthly Leander TX car show is sponsored by the town and held in the old downtown square and the surrounding streets. This is an informal show int he same spirit as Cars and Coffee, but is much more casual and relaxed. Like C&C, a variety of cars show up, from military vehicles, muscle cars, classics, JDM, British, and much much more.
With so many choices, it’s tough to pick our favorite every monthly – the strength of this show is variety. So we’ll cheat and choose 3 this month. Full pictures of each car are in the gallery below.
First up is this retromod Chevy truck. Retromod trucks are gaining in popularity, and we’ve seen several outstanding examples int he past few years at this show.
Next is this Datsun 1600 Roadster. These are under-valued but gaining in recognition as they are found. We’ve passed up a few over the years and wish we had one. Most people pass by these in favor of restoring a 240Z – but with fewer and fewer of those left, this is not only a good alternative but a great one because it’s a pure driver’s car.
And last, but certainly not least at this show, is this Packard. Phenomenal is the only word that fits.
