Edmunds INSIDE LINE http://www.insideline.com/dodge/challenger/2010/2010-dodge-challenger-srt-8-vs-1970-dodge-challenger.html tests a highly modified 1970 Challenger against the new Challenger SRT-8. So this isn’t the comparison test you might like to see, but it does show what heavy modifications can do for some older cars.
We haven’t heard much positive news about the Challenger recently – it gets regularly trounced in the tests against the Camaro and (2010 or 2011) Mustang. Despite a new and even larger engine coming in the future, it doesn’t look like any major improvement in it’s ratings will be possible on the current and very heavy chassis.
