Color Schemes in Office 2007 b1TR

Microsoft has recently updated the Office3 2007 beta release 1 with a special update known as a "Technical Refresh". The update is only available to members of the Technical Beta test team (that's me) and it previews the look of the upcoming Beta 2 release later this year. This is not the final look and feel yet - but it is approaching it.

As you can see, the "ribbon" has been significantly updated in b1TR. Graphics have also been improved, and the function of the ribbon has been significantly tweaked.

New to b1TR are two color themes for Office applications - Obsidian and Luna (shown below). The following screen images are from the beta running on XP, although Vista is now supported as well. PowerPoint is representative of the changes across all Office applications using the new interface.

The Options menus have also changed in Office 2007 - and much for the better. The menu below shows where the color schemes are selected.
