Nissan & Infiniti
This is a preview image that Infiniti released this month to the press showing a concept that will be introduced at the Detroit show (NAIAS) in Detroit next month. Note the aggressive airdam. This is an interesting development – it appears to be a high performance version of the Infiniti Q50. And while we would be disappointed if this turns out to be only an appearance package, we do also note the vents on the hood near the base of the windshield. “The game is afoot”.
Intriguingly, in the new video released this week, we also note the “3.7” emblem on the side fender. Could there be a higher output version of the 3.7 on the way? And is this a replacement for the former IPL badge – which yielded slightly more HP in the previous generation (and also powers the NISMO 370Z) but didn’t make any appreciable difference in performance testing?
And, better yet, could this be the unveiling of the 550HP twin-turbo V-6 that Infiniti chief Johan de Nysschen let slip in December 2012? We’ll know in just a few weeks. As the owner of a 500HP Stillen-supercharged G37S, we know how good this chassis can when properly setup and tuned. We’d like to see kind of chassis and engine tuning form the factory, and if de Nysschen is true to his word then an engine is available for use here.
