Latest news - this car was cancelled from production at the last moment. The show car shown here was later sold at auction by Ford.
This was a Cougar with the SVT Contour engine and suspension. It was not labeled "SVT". Because it was built on the chassis shared with the SVT Contour, it was all but identical mechanically, although as you can see the seats were different.
This is a prototype... but you can see that production plans were well advanced.
